In California, people who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) also receive State Supplementary Payment (SSP). SSI is a federal program that provides cash assistance. SSP is a California program that adds to SSI.
A person who receives SSI/SSP cannot receive CalFresh benefits, but other people in the household may still qualify.
If someone with SSI just moved to California from another state and has not started receiving SSP, that person can receive CalFresh until their SSP starts.
If you receive SSI/SSP and need food, contact your local food bank or dial 2-1-1 from your phone.
